If you must clean your own carpet and you can’t afford a professional cleaners follow these steps to insure you don’t damage you carpet. But remember that to keep your warranty you must clean with a Certified Carpet Cleaners at least once every 18 months.
1. Move all furniture off the carpet. You can leave heavy stuff and concentrate on the traffic areas.
2. Thoroughly vacuum all the carpeted areas you want to clean- make sure you take your time doing it. Most of the soil on carpets is dry soil.
3. Pre-treat the areas with the traffic lane cleaners. Just don’t apply too much and I always recommend using less than 3rd of the manufacture recommendation when mixing the product.
4. Let it sit for ten minutes.
5. Heat up super hot water and again use a 3rd of the manufacture recommendation of the rinsing or shampoo agent.
6. Start cleaning from the back of the room. Then clean the front with an over lapping slow stroke and make sure to do a dry stroke.
7. Spray a mixture of vinegar and water one to three ratios on all the cleaned carpet. This will neutralize the high ph shampoo and ensure that the carpet will dry soft not crunchy.
8. Speed dry using any fan.
